Switzerland (Un)Explored - Part 2

"Does the grass looks like a lush, immaculate carpet rolling all over all by itself in Switzerland?" Well, no. The grasses were always meant to grow wild. A lot of toil by the locals is put into taming and trimming them into perfection.
The point of me starting off with this you might ask?! Switzerland is undoubtedly the natural paradise on Earth. But a lot of effort is put into keeping it the way it is - A region with untarnished, quintessentially beautiful landscapes and an equally rivetting technology.
If you haven't read the first part of this blog which includes details about Matterhorn, Lavertazzo, Lugano, Lucern, Furka Pass and Italy then click here. Go go read it now!!! Or if you're looking for some helpful tips before starting your trip to Switzerland (fly for 25k INR) then click here.

The best place about staying here is how close it is to the river. Thet view during the sunset is drop-dead gorgeous. The golden tinged rocky mountain…

Switzerland (Un)Explored, Italy (Un)Touched - Switzerland Itinerary (Part 1)

This July I was supposed to head to Kenya with my family but somehow that didn't work out (my sister didn't get her passport on time because of the cyclone Fani. See how it's all linked?) and I ended up going to Switzerland instead. Whatta luck! :D
Switzerland had been a far off dream of mine, up until I saw the roundtrip ticket fare from Bombay to Geneva to be 25000 INR. I mean, that seemed too good to be true. I didn't think twice and just booked the tickets impulsively. (To read more about the amazing deal click here!!)  So, over the next few months, I got my Visa ready, booked hostels, and noted the places I definitely wanted to go to. (Although maximum credit to my mausi/aunt for finding the most wonderful and offbeat places, I loved them!)
My flight was scheduled at 4.45 PM from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Bombay. It was my first tormenting experience with the infamous Bombay rains. I left my cousin's place in Navi Mumbai at around 10.30-11…

Chandipur - The beach that appears and disappears in Odisha

I had been to the Chandipur Sea Beach back when I was a kid. I remember I was very fascinated by this extraordinary beach then and I am fascinated by it now. The sea has always called me..and this time I could walk into it for miles!! Total Budget of the Trip :2500 INR per person Duration : 2 days and 2 nights.  How to Reach: Take a bus/train from Cuttack or Bhubaneswar. AC option available in both. However, I’d suggest taking the train as it would save you a lot of time and discomfort. We took a train while going to Chandipur from Cuttack. It took us 2 and a half hours in the Jan Shatabdi express. The nearest station is Balasore. It is another 15kms to Chadipur via cab or auto. The cab charged us 350 rupees while auto was for 250 rupees. Even though it's only 15 km it takes around 35-40 mins to reach to Chandipur.

Where to Stay :

The Odisha Government-owned Panthanivas is strategically located right in front of the beach.
The rooms are spacious and very economical. (1500 with tax fo…

Switzerland on a Budget : How I Flew Round Trip for just 25000 Rupees and other facts !!

Yes, you read it right. I've had to book last-minute one-way domestic tickets for 14000 INR, so even I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the round-trip ticket price from Bombay (India) to Geneva (Switzerland) -- JUST 25500 INR.  How did I manage to pull this seemingly impossible feat? I flew with Kenya Airways (the pride of Africa) from Bombay to Nairobi to Geneva. I was a bit skeptical about the airlines (especially after the Ethiopian Airlines incident in march 2019) and I'd googled for reviews after booking the tickets (smart, no?).  The reviews were mixed but after having flown with it I can honestly say that it is a wonderful airline! Good food, entertainment, and tangy lemon moisturizer on board (my hands get super dry while flying)....life jhingalala!! And also I booked the tickets almost 3 months in advance. Total Budget ?70,000-80,000 INR. Duration? 7-8 days.  Visa? You need to apply for Schengen visa either directly at the Switzerland embassy in New Delhi or via…

Double Decker Living Root Bridges In The Scotland Of The East - Meghalaya!!

It all began with my frustration was at its peak during my medicine rotations and I just booked a flight ticket from Bhubaneswar to Guwahati for the 21st of April 2019. I really didn't think it through when I booked my return flight after 8 days. After doing a bit of research I decided on the places I wanted to go to. But I had no idea how to reach those places and what to do. But as most plans go, fate had something else in store for me. My little sister who is all of 13 years old joined me on this trip to the "Scotland of East". Let the fun begin! From Guwahati Airport we took a shared cab for 500 INR per person to Police Bazaar in Shillong. I'd just booked this one stay, a little away from the center of humdrum and then let life take us where it would. ShillongStay Latei Ville Inn - It was a quiet little place, overlooking the forest and valleys. There was a super cute but unfriendly doggo there. Khasi Heritage Village
